Re: MORNING THERAPY FOR VETERANS
Just to enlighten what the premise of that last poem implies. The act of standing be it in unfamiliar place, against a wall, in a corner or a graveyard the act implies being lost or not being in a place that is familiar to a soldier.
The emotion of being lost is supported by "Where" as in where a bridge once spanned is the brotherhood, the regimental system, and the mountain is the everyday life of a leader and so on, without the "where" you become a faded picture, a worn and tattered uniform, simply you stick out and now are not "included in any reindeer games" no matter how many battles you fought. That is my interpretation now make it your own.
If you want you can start here
Standing where a bridge once spanned, now your are are your own so to speak. Cheres and thanks for the fed back troops appreciate it, honestly.

Re: MORNING THERAPY FOR VETERANS
Very interesting Robbie. To me anyway, your every 2 lines could be interpreted and expanded upon in many different ways, mostly a positive... reflection. Subtleties do count...
Here is something I may have posted a while back. Can't remember if I did. It's old but still really relevant. The tail end has a silver tongue but I didn't write it.
Once upon a time, there was a non-conforming sparrow who decided not to
fly south for the winter. However, soon after the weather turned cold,
the sparrow changed his mind and reluctantly started to fly south.
After a short time, ice began to form his on his wings and he fell to
earth in a barnyard almost frozen. A cow passed by and crapped on this
little bird and the sparrow thought it was the end, but the manure
warmed him and defrosted his wings. Warm and happy the little sparrow
began to sing. Just then, a large Tom cat came by and hearing the
chirping investigated the sounds. As Old Tom cleared away the manure,
he found the chirping bird and promptly ate him.
There are three morals to this story:
(1) Everyone who shytes on you is not necessarily your enemy.
(2) Everyone who gets you out of the shyte is not necessarily your friend.
(3) If you are warm and happy in a pile of shyte, keep your mouth shut.
SOP anyone? Cheers.

The hard Canadian. He don't have much to say, but he'll hurt your feelings almost every single day. Takes a puff-a-nothing ,picks something from his tongue. He's the hard Canadian. -GD
