This won't really affect me personally, since my SISIP coverage ended on Jan 4th, and I didn't start work until 2 months later, so there isn't even an overlap., Plus, I think even SISIP would think first before trying to deduct an entire years wages in four days

That's it exactly.

SISIP is a guaranteed MONTHLY benefit, so it can NOT be calculated ANNUALLY.

Get you RoE's as soon as you can.

Ok, I see what you're saying. That once your earnings cancel out the SISIP amount, for a specific month, the rest should be free and clear. So for those three months you worked, it would be an extra $3000 in your pocket. But if they deduct the full annual earnings, you lose that money because it would get deducted from months where you had no extra earnings.

That's not the only problematic situation, rex, here's another:

If you had to work, and work hard to avoid financial deadlines, like overdue mortgage payments that could lead to foreclosure, and you worked your fingers to the bone, and made more than SISIP pays in a month, but afterwards you were a wreck, you could get boned by the yearly divided by twelve.

For example, SISIP pays you $1000/mo, so that's $12,000 a year. To avoid foreclosure, you work 3mos at $2000/mo (but then were a basket case for the rest of the year), that's $6000. If SISIP goes annual/12 they will only pay you $6000, not the $9000 they actually owe you, because you couldn't work for the other 9 months of the year.

I have posted about this scenario before, and had pointed conversations directly with lead council about it and was told that's between you and SISIP, it's not part of this deal.

So, get you hard copies of your RoE's and have them on hand for adjudication once your cheque and worksheet arrives, because if I'm not mistaken, we're only given 30 days to contest the file.

No, they do not have access to RC files, and some members have been asked to provide past notice of assessments from RC, to determine amounts earned from other sources. If you are getting reinstated this policy will not affect you. So if SISIP owed you 1500 per month, but for 6 months you earned $500 in each, they can either deduct the 500 for each of those 6 months, or deduct $250 for every month. Either way you still get the same amount of money in the end.

Where this becomes a problem is for those clients who will not be fully reinstated and SISIP only covers a portion of the year. Ex SISIP coverage ends on March 30th, and the person finds work the next day. The way SISIP is going about it, is that they want a list of all earnings from Jan 01 to Dec 31st of that year, so any money earned in the last 9 months of the year, can be used to reduce, possibly completely cancelling out, the LTD benefit, owed to the Veteran during the first 3 months of the year, while still on SISIP. That is why everyone who did work following their 24 months should request a copy of their record of employment and pay records if possible, so that SISIP cannot weasel out of paying you what is rightfully your.

Manulife is entitled to reduce your monthly benefit by the amount of any monthly employment income. We have received a lot of questions from members who have seasonal employment income and are concerned that the CRA forms show annual employment income, which is not broken down on a monthly basis.

Manulife has advised that if they are provided documentation to establish that a member's income was in certain months, they will only reduce the member's benefit for those months. Without that documentation, Manulife will divide the annual employment income by 12 and apply to every month.

If you have seasonal employment income, we suggest providing documentation of that directly to Manulife. We do not know exactly what documentation will be required, but we suggest Record of Employment, pay stubs or a letter from your employer.
