Re: CPPD and SISIP
I figure that CPPD thinks like this. Is he worse off than Stephen Hawking? No,.... Can he blink? OK he can blink so that means he can work.
I know what I can do and can not do. If I overdo it then I am put out for weeks at a time. But they are professionals who make the decisions and who am I to contradict their wisdom.
Blink blink...Although I am very happy that I can take my dog out for a walk every day and occasionally visit a friend for an hour or so every couple of weeks or so. THis for me is good. I am sure there are alot of other Vets out there in the same predictament.

Don't sweat it RedFisher (easy to say, I know) but you can appeal it. Just gather as much info as possible and demand from your doctor for specialists to re-examine you until YOU are satisfied with the results.
The only positive way to look at this initial denial is consider it money in the bank for when you are approved, they'll retro it for the last 6 years.

Holy shit Red...I don't know what to say. Is there a chance that when you get your Sisip payments, considered income, then you can reapply for benefits through CPP-D? I can't fathom how an individual such as yourself could fall through our "social safety net". It makes me sick to think about it. Cant imagine how sick it makes you. Take care of yourself. Maybe you can re-apply one day.

Sisip will more than likely tell you to re apply for CPPD. Lots of people do not get it first time around.

CPPD and SISIP
For those of you who, like me, were told not to apply for CPPD immediately when getting out of the CF this is what happens.
Medically retired in 2009. Applied for CPPD Jan 2013.
CPP Decision -
This is further to your application that we regret to inform you that CPP cannot pay you Disabililty benefits. A careful review of your application shows that you do not meet the CPP disability rules. (Even though I am 90% VAC).
1. You must have sufficient earnings and contributions to qualify for CPP disability benefits. This means that you:
a. must have paid into the CPP for at least 4 of the last 6 years,
b. have made valid CPP contributions for at least 25 years including 3 of the last 6 years.
c. It is acknowledged that you may have some limitations from your medical condition and you may not be able to return to a stressful work environment. However, considering your age, education and my motivation to return to work, it is reasonable to expect that you should be able to do some type of other work or retrain.
While you may not be able to do your usual work, we concluded that you whould still be able to do some type of work. Therefore you do not meet the criteria of severe and prolonged.
Although you may be dissapointed, we hope that you understand the reasons for this decision.
So what they are telling me is that even though I can only get out and be around other people for about 2-3hrs a week without causing a breakdown. And that I can only do light work with no moderate or heavy lifting that I should be able to retain some kind of work. I know my limits, I know exactly how much I can do without comprimising myself and exactly how much physical work I can do before am immobile. So exactly what kind of work are they talking about?
I cannot be around people, I can't do labor jobs, I am not a writer or computer programmer. I will not be a telemarketer, I can't work at McDonalds, Subway or Timmies. I don't have enough money to even think about starting some kind of home based job so what is there for me to do?
SISIP will only retrain people at the basic minimum of getting the lowest paying job, not one that would benefit us. Given said that I can't go to school as I will go absolutely nuts from anxiety, and all that other stuff I inherited from overseas. And most of all if I go over my threshold I become a total ass to my family and they really don't need that person around anymore, neither do I.
It comes down to this. NO CPPD benefits so now SISIP will have to cover me for the 75%. Will SISIP adopt the CPPD decision and force me to destroy my family life by forcing me to work or retrain? Hmmmm or will they understand that I am so f'd up that they will leave the CPPD decision alone?
Anyway for those who just got medically released...apply for CPPD now or forever loose it for the rest of your life.
