Hubby sent his return March 11....the accountant  said he owed 46000.00$.We called end of april asked if he should pay as we both have disability tax credit i dont work and he has cppd and military pension (in the lump sum over 63000.00 was taken in taxes)CRA said no.Yesterday i call its still not processed said well maybe you should pay and it will not be processed until at least the end of JUNE!! Like WTF....To pay or not to pay that is the question one person at CRA says dont pay (reason she says is it will take alot longer to get it back)then another says pay as its a high amount and high interest....very confused!

Checked CRA Account this AM. My return is complete. They did use the 1198. Previously I owed 15K in taxes. I did have a 32K RRSP in 2013. Now I will receive a refund of $32,609 which DOES include the 15K previously paid end of April 2013. Humorously, they did pay me $8.04 in interest on the 15K paid end April however this is what was noted  by CRA about that interest. Your refund includes refund interest of $8.04. Since this interest is taxable in the year you receive it, you must include it as income on your 2014 tax return. Feeling somewhat surreal about everything ~ feel happy but feel sad for my fellow comrades still worrying and fighting for benefits.

Hey Sapper I too received a letter stating that my T1 Adjustment had been received then 2 days later the re-assessment was done with the documentation I posted earlier, sorry took so long just got home from watching the Jays sweep the A's.

The CRA website says

Very sorry to hear this peeps. It is an added stress for sure.
One thing is clear peeps, for those who did not pay their taxes in the hopes the 1198 gets processed and in their favor, we now know CRA will for certain added compound daily interest. Stay strong and don't let those gibnuts get you down peeps.

Well so far the CRA has boned me more.

They did my 2013 taxes and did not include my T1198 I sent them.  I received a call that my Request for tax payer was going to be put on hold till my T1198 is action-ed.

While checking daily, I just found out my Tax was re sassed.  They removed my split pension with my wife, which now adds another $2600.00 I owe.  After managing to get thru on the phone lines, they informed me I was single and did not qualify for the option.   Grrrrrr
Apparently they had not done my wife's taxes yet and assumed I was single, even though I claimed it the year before!  Bone heads.

Oh and they are putting daily interest in the $2600.00!
Well put in a T1ADJ to correct their error.  The wait continues......

I submitted my paper tax return via snail mail on the 25 april 2014 .... i expect an answer on the 25 of december 2014......Happy holidays

DueDrop from what I have read  on Csat and Sisip Facebook page the 1198 does quite often reverse from owing to a refund ~ I am waiting for my 1198 decision still however in my spouse's scenario the 1198 did not work in his favor as a 2 year client.
