Well, It only took from Mid Jun to now!!!  No they did not use the 1198's I sent in, in Apr. I paid my 13,500 or so at that time.  I have just been advised that 7,200 or so is coming back next week. I also sent in a complete package with my wifes information and told them to re-assess all of her returns to 2006. She was still in until 2011. She had a letter from CRA a few weeks ago informing her the she was being re-assessed. (really)  I am too lazy to try and find her login information at this time, as I am the only one who can access it. I had a ton of income deducted from my return for 2013 70-90,000 so I hope she makes out like a bandit!!

Yes not only did you receive that certificate (DTC Letter) you also may ask that a T1 Adjustment be conducted by your spouse. This adjustment is asking that your spouse receive any UNUSED Tax Credits that stem from your dates of DTC acceptance, i.e.: 10 years backdated, she should ask for those same dates. Your spouse will have to apply for the T1 Adjustment in writing to the Address I detailed above. Note Rifleman that it is addressed to the Disability Tax Credit Unit. Use the fax number I supplied as it is in Nfld and is a quicker fax address.Fax from your Income Tax Center. Any questions ask away brother

Just an update on the DTC, after receiving my DTC I put in the following

ATTN: T1 Adjustments
Disability Tax Credit Unit.
Fax Number: 1-709-754-3416

T1 ADJUSTMENT be performed so that the DTC Unit apply any unused disability tax credits from ..... to ...... (whatever dates concerning your certificate) for the name of ....................(your spouse).

Just received my wife's unused disability tax credits and it is well of 6K so if you think it is a waste of time please re-think and at least apply for the credits.

Yes Sparrow, I agree.

I wonder if one could bypass the first step in filing a formal complaint with the CRA, and go directly to filing the Ombudsman complaint.

Your are absolutely correct, the ombudsman if not currently aware of this, should be made aware of it.

The soup nazi would say, no more paper file for you !

Thanks for the info.

I think the Office of the Taxpayers' Ombudsmen should be apprised of what has transpired since the beginning of the 2013 tax year. Fill out the PDF form at this link and mail to address below. Even if you don't have a resolution issue, it would be appropriate to inform the Taxpayer Ombudsmen of our hardships and hurdles with CRA. You can do it anonymously if your concerned with the DVA Act amendment and implications between Governmental Departments and your personal information.

The protocol of filing a complaint is outlined in the link above.

Rex,

Just to let you know, the resolution centre will look over your return if you ask them to.

This way you will know if all was completed properly.

I agree Nav. Somehow I still have a feeling that CRA screwed me over somehow, like failed to properly apply the withholding tax, or something.

Absolutely, yes, contact the resolution centre asap, they will help you out, they will request you send them a fax copy of your return, 1198, and your receipt for legal fees.

Have H&R fax all the above to the fax number provided to you from the resolution centre.

This can all be done within the hour.

The resolution centre will then get on it right away, and send all the info electronically, and will monitor it daily.

Get on this asap, as waiting for the CRA as it stands today, will be forever.

Reach the resolution centre at 1 877 440 4948.
