Well, my CM is coming for a visit tomorrow, for a check in, and I am going to ask about my lift for the car. If she doesn't know, she is the kind of woman who will definitely find out. I only wish I was able to clone her, so she could take care of everyone as well as she has for me.

Good move RR...good move. Make sure you send all the info to the OVO and underline the training and holiday BS.

Also good move not losing it on her. Oh I think you might be confusing upset with "rattled" with her. She now knows you are using your Ombudsman and that is what sucks because she is at the bottom of the hill and we all know how shyte gathers momentum from PEI to the RO. LOL

I think you are pretty fair about the truck cap too. Very classy Sir RR. Make sure when it's all done that you take a coffee and doughnuts to her. It calms the waters for the future.

Rigger as for your situation it's a 50-50 move. I've bought stuff before and just sent the bill to PEI for reimbursement. I use to get a snot-gram from them because I didn't get pre-approval. Then I decided to send a snot-gram back to them. I don't get them anymore...go figure. Must of been the colourful explanation in my snot-gram. I was told by my CM when she called that I have a very firm command of the Queen's language in a manner snooty VAC adjudicators are not accustomed to.

Can't say it enough ladies and gents put the "friendly" pressure as Sir RR did. Tell them who you are contacting with a big ol' smile.

Who do you contact when you are not getting prompt VAC services - Page 2 Empty Re: Who do you contact when you are not getting prompt VAC services

So here is an update Teen and Rigger, I go to my local VAC office and ask to speak to someone in regards to an outstanding claim I am waiting for. Ten minutes pass by and out comes this lady I have never seen previous as of today and she says I have an up-date to your claim about EIA. I stated that I had no issues with EIA and the reason for my visit was to ask about the status of a scooter and ramp that was requested by the OT on behalf of Veterans Affairs who hired her to do the assessment. This request was completed in January of 2014 and moved up the assessment chain to this office by my CM. From here my CM has told me that due to new personal in the administrative level of command that the files have been somewhat slow to get approval due to training, getting comfortable in the new position and even better it has been busy since people are on holidays.
I then informed her that I was writing a complaint letter to the Office of the Veterans Ombudsman, My Member of Parliament and the Office of Peter Stoffer, Minister of Veterans Affairs and I would be writing a letter to Sean Buyrea through VV1 CSAT, with that the lady excused herself and became privy of my situation returning 5 minutes later with the following information.
Mr. Royal you claim is waiting on the supervisor’s desk pending authorization due to the request being above the allocated funding for this type of request. It appears that you had a truck cap put on your truck to secure the device during travel and have requested that the cap installation be covered as an expense.
I replied no I have requested that a portion of the truck cap be paid for due to the fact that the scooter would not fit in my truck because I had a solid re-enforced tonneau cover that would not permit any object over 31 ½ inches clearance in my truck bed. This is the only scooter that will fold to a height of 33 ½. Therefore I replaced my 1400 tonneau cover at my own expense so I could fit this scooter in my truck, I am a big fella and the other scooters would not support my weight and offer comfort like that particular model. I also believe that if you invest 4000 bucks to a disabled veteran then it should incorporate some form of security measures in ensuring that those issues are safeguarded.
I stated that my complaint will be documented and that she was or would not be the bane of my frustrations today but that I was upset that the supervisor was on holiday and that my claim has been sitting in the regional office since February of 2014. I stated my injury has not taken a holiday and the very veterans they ignore in no way accept the very negligent conduct from an office that uses the terminology Veterans Affairs then forgets the sacrifice of it’s veterans.
I left with a smile and she looked upset that I was not upset and thanked me.

pfftt CM are useless ,i never seem to get the same one, always someone new,and they are stumped at why it has taken so long,so they say that they will look into the matter........jesus h christ.........and if i get my own, they wont cover anything ,cause they didnt approve it
Why do we have to fight our own vac for our right to services.........i signed that dotted line in 84,fully expecting to be "looked after" when i was finished 23 yrs later.
now i am just bitter at them,10 years of appeals etc to get what % i have now, figured it would get easier the more disabled i became on their T.O.D ,but it seems they just push my file further down the file 13 bin cause i am closer to being dead..........disgusting way to live,to be under their control like this (imo)

ps RR ..my nick name is for the old trade i used to be.....aircraft mechanic dealing with the airframe and the engines

Sorry RR but your CM is more then window dressing. It is their job to get services to the client and if that means getting up in the grill of the bean counters then they do it. If the CM is not persuasive enough that is where the DO Supervisor comes in. Their job is to get up in the nose of the bean counters for the client.

I am so frustrated that it's pass the buck when it comes to client services. I know the CM's are the only employees of VAC we have face to face meetings with. I know how feckn' frustrated they are with the downright absolute laziness of VAC employees in PEI that they just want to wring a neck or dozen.

That's why I can't encourage everyone to contact the OVO with these problems. The new Deputy Ombudsman Sharon Squire worked in Service Delivery so she just might be the one to get these slugs off their butts and do their job efficiently, effectively, and in a timely manner.

If we don't feed the OVO with VAC faults we have an ineffective Ombudsman.

Feck me gently rigger I know the feeling and brother if your a former rigger you did your dues brother probably rigged my chute a few times. So if anyone knows your sit my brother I do and I am above and beyond pissed at the system that fails to recognize veterans over the 100% mark and with the Totally incapacitated moniker you'd figure a sense of urgency would be proper. I have just mailed off a series of letters to my MOP, OVO Office, Governor General of Canada and even that idiot Fantino is getting one. I sent one off to Peter Stoffers Office as he seems to be the only one out there that floors these complaints. Just keep plugging away Rigger

RR i am also waiting for a scooter and a ramp for my deck,i applied last may (14 months and counting)i was approved by my DR,and the OT specialist with a nice big letter from both of them APPROVING both requests. So i appealled with more letters of support. Each time i call to inquire about the status, all they say is that under review, and each time i call ,i get a new person, and even they cant understand why its taking so long to approve my requests,i just called today, and it was the same response.
A little about my self.........thankfully i am on the old sys at 121%and take over 700 pills a month.....of that percentage 40% for ptsd, and 40% pain.......then its bad feet, bad wrist, and a injury in "a personal area".......i don't walk far any more also,i use a cane, and when in big stores i use the powered chairs when every possible, but most times i have to wait in the vehicle while my wife does all the shopping and lifting, cause i am in to much pain to help.(talk about feeling useless)............i am just so sick of being denied, delayed, and die mentally of vac when it come to helping vets

I'm in the opposite boat. VAC paid for my mobility scooter, but I cannot use it as intended, because there really isn't anything within scooter range (I don't want to take 2 hours to go to the store), but I've been waiting since last Sept for approval for a car lift for the scooter, so that I can actually go places with it. Like last month, we went to the zoo, and I rented a wheelchair from them, but all the paths were loose gravel, so the chair wouldn't move with me in it, so I ended up using it as a walker. My scooter would have been perfect for that, instead of sitting in my garage collecting dust.

My doctor prescribed a scooter for me a few years back and it was of course denied by the PEI gods with one of the criteria that having a scooter would make me dependant on it so they felt I did not really need one. Had to go out and buy my own, $6,500 later and I am not dependant in it and only use it on those really horrible days when I cannot walk.
