Re: Retirement Income Security Benefit (RISB)
Got an email stating that cf pension veterans won't quaify for RISB. That's why the low number of 407 veterans at this point!

I wonder how he's going to merge all those benefits into one? Do you think with this Sisip ltd might be going the way of the dinosaur and ELB will reign supreme?

Agreed light up those cigars and drink for those who are not receiving a CF pension - this is a real good deal for them, they deserve the RISB, and will give them some peace of mind leading up to age 65.
I just hope they are directed upon their release to apply for ELB.

Hang on , Cola, he just went to use the restroom ! As soon as he gets back to the bar I'll ask. I'm sure for us a cf pension won't matter!

But Nav, what about the comment in the CBC interview where Minister O'Toole says you can't be in receipt of a DND pension to access the RISB. Does MVA mean if your on LTD and severely disabled regardless of whether you receive a DND pension or not.

Re: Retirement Income Security Benefit (RISB)
Well if you ask me it comes down to three words " NEW VETERANS CHARTER "
You hear the MVA state in the video that this new proposed RISB is the biggest gap in his own words from all the recommendations.
I am sorry folks, but if they were just to leave things the way they use to be, and improve the old pension act as time goes on, we would not be in this mess we are in today, Don't get me wrong, I am in no way stating that the NVC does not have some good benefits to offer, what I am saying is that things would have been much easier for Veterans and the Government if they only made improvements to the old act.
Just my very own opinion.

Re: Retirement Income Security Benefit (RISB)
There's always something with these new programs! Sometimes they just cause more headaches than anything. Solution, merge ELB with Sisip ltd and extend it for life of veteran with a 70 percent survivor benefit, easy, easy , easy

Re: Retirement Income Security Benefit (RISB)
Trooper, the CF Pension is reduced at age 65, once you start collecting CPP. Mine will be reduced by around $350/mo, as the "bridge benefit. It will be reduced sooner if I ever get approved for CPP(D).

Re: Retirement Income Security Benefit (RISB)
Ok this is what needs to be implemented here,
Those who were medically released with moderate to severely conditions without CF pension entitlements should be directed to apply for ELB - Those individuals would be entitled to the RISB period. That takes care of the RISB.
Those Veterans who are receiving a CF pension and were medically released and are receiving ELB - Those individuals should get ELB for life period.
Those Veterans who are receiving a CF pension and were medically released and are receiving sisip - Those individuals should get sisip for life period.
Is this to much to ask for ?

Re: Retirement Income Security Benefit (RISB)
Yes, it is good for those not getting a CF pension, but since the CF pension is deducted from ELB, dollar for dollar, I'm no farther ahead financially than an ELB recipient that doesn't get a CF pension. So why should some Veterans getting ELB until 65, get the RISB, while others do not, as long as the CF pension is deducted from it as well? It will negatively affect those who were getting a CF pension. So, they need to either remove the CF pension exclusion from the RISB, or stop deducting it from our ELB, and give us the opportunity to put that extra money aside for our retirement.
