Really thinking of appealing a decision from 7 years ago

Just to add to what guys are saying...You can request a copy of your denial letter from veteran affairs. The letter will outline the reasons for their decision. Your doctor or specialist can review the reasons and determine if he can provide contradictory medical evidence or evidence to support you in an appeal.

Well DonnieD remember when you made you decision on the action 7yrs ago like many did. You did under the assumption one was doing the right thing. No one has that crystal ball, so don't beat yourself up. You have to ask yourself, if this is the route of ones anger, if so then jmo I would fight it. With that being said, are you prepared for the paper work, phone calls, and the waiting for the what if. If you can say yes, you are mentally and physically able, then go for it. You have to tell yourself and remember you did nothing Wrong, its the system that's wrong. Hang in there from this old bugger, and thanks for your service. Just to add what propat said in certainly yes appeal , I'm going to give you some advice if you do decide to appeal.

If you do not have a specialist who sees you for this particular condition , I would get one referred to you , make your appointment and at the end of your appointment with the specialist explain the denial you received 7 years ago , it would be Ideal if you had that denial letter to pass on to the specialist , if not you will need to write a full explanation in details of why you were denied.
You would then ask the specialist to prepare a letter of support for you with the info you provide , hopefully the specialist will.
This holds a lot of weight in determining the success of your appeal.

But keep your head/mental state above water...tricky shyte.
That's important. No all time lows. Stick with family/friends.

Ones health vs. ones principles are a son of a bee at the end of the day...

I had a claim approved 7 years ago but I was young and stupid at the time. I could have appealed it and probably won. It's been bugging me ever since and when ever I read something relating to it my anger flares up and PTSD symptoms kick in. I had my latest total impairment reassessment done last month which got instantly approved but again my doctor who has been with me since the first claim till now was also shocked why they only take 1/4 of the diagnosis and ignore the most important ones when she always puts them all in the reports.

I have ptsd, mdd, pain disorder with psychological factors. The one I got approved at the time was pain disorder with psychological factors. I was young and seeing a paycheck with a lump sum made me not appeal. This ticks me off because when I read the dsm-v it makes it sound like I'm inventing injuries or it's placebo pain. Yet I already had 3 surgeries in the last 7 years (2 shoulders and hip), the latest being end of last year(still doing physio every week). Still need a knee surgery. All these started in the military and are in my military medical records. It's been 7 years and there hasn't been any improvement in my conditions and vac took an easy way out by approving me for some bs pain disorder.

Any how, what do you guys think. My mental state is at an all time low for the past year, so I want to know from you guys if this is worth pursuing to at least ease my anger. I also want them to admit to what they did to me, which is ruined my life because I never had any mental disorders before joining.
