disability at 98%or greater Empty I have 136% now

Post by peep Wed 29 May 2024, 21:11

After receiving 136% I had an increase in disability to 100% but nothing else. I still fight with VAC all the time to have prescriptions approved. They still do not approve many. I know of no new benefits other than receiving the regular I had plus having my disability increased from a lower level to 136%

Correct me if I am wrong........I believe the 98% had to do with qualifying for the EIA (Exceptional Incapacity Allowance) and it got more confusing if someone was deciding EIA vs the PIA with differences depending on which pension(s) a person was under?
Yes, l think that's what happened with me , l hit 98% and it meant l could apply for EIA, but as l was injured under all 3 pension plans, l ended up receiving APSC and it says in VAC policy that you cannot draw both, so l ended up in one of the 3 APSC Grades vs I think EIA has/had 5 pay rates

I guess that's what l meant , if you reach the 98% disabled/ frail category and you're not already getting VIP, this might help the veteran get it, and also get/increase the veterans, APSC and or Attendance Allowance .
But yes ,keep submitting injuries, veterans can be 150% injured as bizarre as that sounds, after 100% there is no monetary compensation,  but whatever that claim was that pushes the veteran over the 100% mark, might be a disabilty that requires a cane, corrective shoes, a back brace etc
Those things would be free

I understand it the way Teen does...There is no financial benefit to claims submitted once a person is deemed/declared 100% disabled and or over...but I understand it, one can still get existing benefits increased beit Attendance Allowance, VIP, APSC etc. (not referring to COLA). Claims submitted post 100% are still advisable to submit, as Teen mentioned the benefits/support that goes with it.

Nothing.

When you hit 100% VAC declares you disabled (in their definition of disabled) and there is no extra benefits.

About the only thing you get is a bit of leniency with VAC for you when it comes to non-financial benefits like VIP, Attendance Allowance, Escorts for medical appointments etc

It doesn't mean you stop submitting health problems (consequential problems) with VAC at 100%. Keep sending health updates to get them verified by VAC. You are informing them for any daily living aids or therapies needed for treatment.

FYI Unknown VAC does not like the term 'frail' when describing veterans health status as it gives a tilted view by the public when a veteran of age and injury is arguing with VAC in the press. VAC doesn't like to have an image of being a bully with the public.

Post by vpoirier79 Wed 29 May 2024, 09:01

II just got disability increased to 99%disabled also have attendance allowance second lowest level and additional pain and suffering compensation. My disabilities are divided between disabilities before 2006 and after, and anxiety from special duty area Cyprus. My question is does anything automatically kick in for being at 98% disabled or greator.A friend of mine said that drug coverage might be all free, not sure on that one. Any help here would be appreciated
