It's not free trade zone in euro zone, it's a custom union, Once Mulroney signed away Canada's manufacturing to the USA and Mexico this country has never been te same.Also Ontario gives 22 billion to the federal GOC for equalization payments to the Maritime provinces , if you take this money away, close all federal agencies, the maritimes would have 50 percent unemployment and when I was posted to Edmonton every second person on the street was from the maritimes and even they said no jobs, I am not liberal and not conservative, I would just like a model put in place in Canada which resembles a German socialism market economy, one that benefits everyone, not just the 1 percent( all Harper friends)

Propat, look at country's like Germany, they have a strong economy, low unemployment and a high standard of living. They have programs for the poor and disabled which give them a decent standard of living. Why , and What are they doing different then Canada, They have socialism, socialism works , look at Germany , Norway , Sweden , France , tell a German about free trade and he will tell you we are crazy, and oh ya, Harper is going o India and china to negioate free trade with these two countries paying 1 dollar an hour to their workers. We are screwed

Propat, Mulroney as our PM had a safety deposit box stuffed with 1000 dollar bills from a mob connected German con man, Really, and Paul Martin payed off the deficit and created a surplus which was paying down our national debt. As for free trade , I live in Hamilton which was once the greatest manufacturing city in Canada, free trade killed our economy, killed every good paying job, and turned our once powerful and rich province into a Nova Scotia. Nova Scotia is a beatutiful province and the people are nice but there are no good paying jobs , most of the people relay on welfare because there are no jobs and the jobs that are there are minimum wage. They also rely on equalization payments from Ontario just to pay the bills. Well free trade did that to my province Ontario. As for Alberta, yes they have oil, but nothing runs forever, and they are even in deficit. So free trade killed this country but the GOC wants you o believe everyone is happy and doing well. As yourself this, are we as a generation , better off than our grandparents were?
