Greatfoot, at 75 percent of release salary , it is very hard to sock away anything, plus rrsp and such take away your OAS at retirement, believe me it's better to have Zero assets at 65 because you loose alot of medical and retirement benefits, wife's father at 80 had paid off house, money in the bank, got sick needed 24 hour care, wife's family had to use every penny up of his , then provincial benefits kick in, if we had sold off everything and kept it as cash or gold , then province would have paid for everything,

My $.02, but it's INCOME REPLACEMENT, so you should, in theory, be socking away a portion of it for retirement, into RRSP's or whatever, therefore I think the CRA-65, or whatever it will be at that point, is a moot point. I will, however, also add that the SISIP cut-off age be tied to the legal CRA, then it will more accurately reflect an individual's ability to work.

Sisip ltd till 65 then what????
I was at my sons school and was actually talking to his history teacher, we were talking about the sisip clawback because my son had mentioned the case during a law class he teaches also, why he mentioned and I thought was worth a chat was why does sisip ltd stop at 65, to me this seems very unfair because this will result in a substantial drop in income for the veteran and the veteran being disabled what are his options, OAS , that's only 450 a month? Even in Ontario hen you reach 65 on workers compensation it still continues, so my question is yes it's great to receive that ltd until 65 but is it fair to discrimate based on the age limit of 65 or should it continue until you can work or are dead? Peter is this something maybe you should be looking at? Also imagine when all of us are appraching 65 , this forum will be swamped with all our posts of how unfair it is to stop sisip at 65, but then again we can all go back to collecting pop bottles, just a thought
