Well, Peeps i would consider Sparrows intel very , very important and we need to know what is going on. We were told, by memo, that on the 9 of oct this was going to happen, so what the hell changed. Peter if you are still reading this, we need some answers

what do you mean when you say
"He said he was under the impression that the lawyers were supposed to remove and resind that Oct. 9th request for zero sums to call sisip in a memo but he says he has not seen it as yet. "

Thanks, Sparrow, this is why its so damm important to have these posts operational. TEEN, this is very important information and we, the class need to know, what the heck the law firm is doing here. Do we call sisip or not and what about this memo and them claiming to have successfully pressed the government to START THE MONTHLY PAYMENTS. BREAK THE SILENCE TEEN, WHAT IS PETER SAYING ABOUT THIS DEVELOPMENT.

Navrat:
Fees are last, yes they asked a 30% fee, but this not mean that they will, even if I have problems of thrust with lawyers, so far, Mr Driscoll and his team at McInnes Cooper have done a great job. We don't even have a clue of the final offer and till then, we can only wait.
I am happy that the GOC is doing research on how many are affected and how many we are/Costs. This will be good knowledge to our firm on what is reasonable to ask and for the Judge to know what will be the $ the firm would get.
The worked hard, still are, they should be paid on merit, which they have earned, they will get what the Judge will consider right!
For my part, I'm waiting to see about damages, waiting to see if there are any and how much they will repair not paying the costs her.....

I spoke with my sisip case manager today. I asked him what I should do on Oct. 9th. He said he was under the impression that the lawyers were supposed to remove and resind that Oct. 9th request for zero sums to call sisip in a memo but he says he has not seen it as yet. Sisip still has no further info than they had weeks ago. So in short, nothing is going to change on Oct 9th for anyone. Sisip just reconfirmed my address etc. Sparrow

Was not 30 percent the number given in the intial court documents??? I also would like a little more information before i call sisip and wait all day because 900 zero sum clients are going to call expecting something. The last time i talked to my cm at sisip , she had told me they , sisip, did not have the funds yet, this was about 2 weeks ago, around that time. I had mentioned earlier that i had contacted my member of parliament regarding the legal firms claim that the government was montioring are site and we should be resticted in what we say. She told me , Mrs Charlton,NDP, that it was total bunk, that if the government wanted to fight this they could have got a high powered labour lawyer from Bay street to fight us. In her circles, and she is NDP, the government truly wants to settle this as fast as possible and put this behind it. SO i dont know what to believe, but i hope i dont get deleted because its unfair , when its just information being passed along and helps gets things off peoples chest. Very Happy

Listen Greatfoot
Show me where I can find the reference to 30% legal costs?
As for building a house the dollar amount is in black and white before the ground is broken. The constuction people can stand around with their thumbs up their arse for weeks doing nothing, the price that was agreed on from the start (contract) aint gonna change. Further I read your prior posts, you are fishing for reactions, who are you working for?

Our lawyers will only ask fees when the deal will be closed, when we as a Class will have accepted the package!
Depending on the offer, maybe a part of the fees could be compensated by Damages.
If not, read between the lines, Federal Court Rule 334.39 (c).

334.39 (1) Subject to subsection (2), no costs may be awarded against any party to a motion for certification of a proceeding as a class proceeding, to a class proceeding or to an appeal arising from a class proceeding, unless
(a) the conduct of the party unnecessarily lengthened the duration of the proceeding;
(b) any step in the proceeding by the party was improper, vexatious or unnecessary or was taken through negligence, mistake or excessive caution; or
(c) exceptional circumstances make it unjust to deprive the successful party of costs.

I don't know who came up with 30% legal fees of $600,000,000 CDN, but I think they are totally out to lunch.
I would pay for costs, ie photo copies, phone calls, paper clips, economy class flights, hotel rooms(excluding the porn channel)etc, etc, etc.
Five years of work, which the Government of Canada paid $750,000CDN.
So I will be very generous and give them $500,000 a year plus expenses.
If anybody wats to discuss this in private here is my e mail address vep22@shaw.ca and we can can really get some stuff of our chests.
