Agreed it is not right but there comes a time when I just have to stop trying and accept it. So many battles to deal with.

"Minister, as authorized by Subsection 220(3.1) of the income tax act gives the Minister the discretionary authority to waive or cancel all or part of any penalty and interest otherwise payable by a taxpayer under the Act"

id defiantly appeal but first id wright in asking for an explanation of the decision in reference to "There are no legislative provisions to allow for a review of this request under subsection 220(3.1) of the Income Tax Act" as the legislation clearly allows for cancelation of interest.

Yes propat I did. I have been following all the posts and advice regarding the tax payer relief subject.

so they wouldn't even consider looking at it . well that's interesting. did you apply for a cancelation of the interest portion of the QRLSP calculations???

Here is my response to the taxpayer relief form.
We are writing in regards to the Taxpayer Relief request you submitted in June 2014.
There are no legislative provisions to allow for a review of this request under subsection 220(3.1) of the Income Tax Act.

For more information on taxpayer relief provisions, you may refer to Information Circular ICO7-1, available on our Web site etc etc etc....

We are returning the correspondence you submitted...etc etc etc

Any up dates on any one other than Propat receiving a positive out come to requested tax relief.... only one confirmed success story so far?

yup,

just received a direct deposit from the quebec gouverment and got back 50 % of what i was owing them so i guess it should be the same for the federal gouverment hope it works out for you guys.
