Bursary Fund (Assorted Topics) Empty Bursary Fund (Assorted Topics)

Post by Guest Sat 13 Aug 2016, 10:39

How many bursaries can a Class Member receive?

There will be no more than one (1) bursary available to each Class Member. If a Class Member wishes to do so, he/she may select one (1) eligible individual other than himself/herself to apply for the bursary. An applicant may be named by more than one (1) Class Member to receive the bursary. As per the court direction for this settlement, if you have designated your bursary to an individual who has already received a payment, you are no longer eligible to apply.

Bursary Fund (Assorted Topics) Empty Veteran Bursary Program Guidelines Inquiry

Post by Guest Fri 12 Aug 2016, 17:03

Our son will be attending Ottawa Algonquin College full time in Sept 2016 and we are hoping to apply for the Veteran Bursary. On the Bursary website it states that the program will open as of midnight on Sept 1, 2016 for the 2016-2017 programs but it does not give anymore particulars. For those who have already applied in previous years, can you give a guideline description of what is required so that we can prepare in advance of Sept 1. Thank you very much for your assistance.

Come on , these are the people that we as Veterans have stood on that wall to protect with our lives so that they may gain financially at the expense of our lives , they deserve the best.

This is because the person the government chose to negotiate for them is in charge of the organization that oversees universities and colleges, and his organization is administering the bursaries, and likely getting a hefty fee for doing so. If you ask me, that should have been construed as a conflict of interest, abuse of power, or even breach of trust, by the Courts. He should not have been able to personally gain through the content of the settlement. Lord knows he was probably paid quite handsomely just to negotiate on behalf of the GoC, in order to minimize the fallout, and that should have been enough.

Peter Driscoll told me that the GoC came to the table on a Monday morning and just told them they are giving a bursary fund to the class. They also set the rules I believe.

Personally I think it was a move to give the appointed adjudicator an income for 7 years as he is the administrator of the fund.

I believe Denise did. I agree and think that all Veterans who do not qualify for the bursary should get the $1,300 as an award , taxable , and whatever is left over should be divided by all who received the $1,300 amount.
