Good to know.  I finally got around to sending mine in about 6 weeks ago.  Gotta get on that cppd now.  I hate all this paperwork.

So, hopefully yours is done the same way.
Call them. Usually they are nice.

czerv,

They are changing procedures often, it's hard to keep up with the changes, it's been a little while since this particular DTC reassessment topic was deeply discussed, but that's what I like about the forum, members posting info so as to keep everyone up to date.
This is the first I hear of the reassessment being done automatically upon approval, so I guess the bottom line here would be for those who are approved for the DTC, contact the CRA to inquire if they are going to do the reassessment.

On another note, I have been reading on other sites just in the past couple of days where some who applied for the DTC have stated that their doctors filled out and sent out the forms to the CRA, the CRA after receiving the filled out forms sent a notice to the doctor requesting all records for the past 10 years on the applicant be sent to them before any decision is to be made. This for first time applicants, and renewal applicants.

I know of one person who was approved recently for the DTC renewal, I asked him if this was the case, he said no.

So I'm unsure if this is a change in policy, or just specific circumstances.

I phoned them , they said they would do it "automatically" back to 2006...but not "instantly" , hence my original question.

Artie,

Congrats on being approved!

Regarding your 10 years of reassessment, the CRA will not automatically do this, in fact they won't do it until you write them a letter asking them to adjust your taxes going back 10 years to include the DTC.

I would get on this ASAP.

I'm waiting on my decision to come back as we speak. I heard it can be up to $1000 per year based on income.

For some sound financial planning.
Punch in different scenarios, if you qualify.
Use some of your lump sum in the scenarios, it maybe some help in the future.
Keep on the GoC for the promise of the return of our Full Pension Act.

Being a Veteran holds a lot of clout,

when applying for CPPD you can never put to much info in make sure you put everything you have and no need to be light on the details put everything there when i applied years ago my doc at the time made sure to put as much evidence as possible to back up everything that was in there and i had to meet two criteria's out of i think the 5 or 6 they had listed like mental and walking i used vacs documents and release military documents with all my limitations listed to help back up my claims its said that some put in get denied only because they were told they did not have enough info put in or enough evidence to back up what they were saying so put as much as you can find best of luck on applying and don't take no for an answer keep trying

I should probably get on the CPPD as well.  Do I need a different report from my doc for that one too?

Correct, your doctor needs to fill out the physicians portion.

You can look at the Sticky that's posted above, "Application for Canada Pension Plan Disability Benefits", you will find everything on applying for the CPPD.
