I applied for vip and they told me I had to be checked out by an occupational therapist? Do they come to my home? Does anyone know the procedure?

Took a long time.  Then I saw the VAC Dr and was approved in 6 weeks. Now hopefully the reassessment that was part of it will be granted.  But yes it takes a lot of hounding and appeals to sometimes get anything from VAC

I contacted VAC and received my reply. The computer automatically recycles on the VIP anniversary date, in my case the end date is 07 March so a new start date of 08 March will be generated on 08 March to start a new annual cycle. VIP will be continued. Great news because it is spring clean-up time and my physical limitations won't allow me to wash windows, rake the lawn, wash base boards, etc. I truly do appreciate VIP benefits...

I was approved VIP for house keeping and yard maintenance with a start date of March 08, 2017 and an end date of March 07, 2018. I noticed today (March 07, 2018) that my VIP benefits no longer show a dollar amount in my VAC account. It looks like my VIP benefits have been discontinued. Are we suppose to reapply every year? I will be contacting VAC today for an answer to the way ahead. My physical limitations haven't changed where I can do basic house keeping and yard maintenance. Still limited where I am now considering selling my house and moving into a condo. I can't keep up with a large house on an acreage anymore so I am seriously considering selling and moving. This is a direct result of my physical limitations.

Anyone know of a straight up provider for housekeeping in SW Ontario? Went through 5 workers in VON inside 2 years because of their turn around, not me. I cancelled them. The trick is descretion/privacy no one knows I'm a vet. Too many snoopy fracks these days. I just wanna make use of the VIP that I have.

Thank you for using My VAC Account and our secure E-mail services.

In order to be eligible for treatment benefits and elements found
within the Veterans Independence Program, it is necessary that
the applicant be released from the forces.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact
us again via My VAC Account or our toll-free number 1-866-522-2122.

Sincerely,

That's interesting because if you look at their policy, first post, it clearly states:

You may qualify for VIP, if you meet one of the following criteria:

You have qualified for a disability benefit;
You have qualified for the War Veterans Allowance;
You are in receipt of Prisoner of War Compensation;
You are a Veteran who is eligible for, but is unable to access, a Contract Bed (also known as a Priority Access Bed);
You have been the primary caregiver for an eligible Veteran or civilian;
or
You are a low-income or disabled survivor of an eligible Veteran or civilian

Nowhere does it state you need to be released.

Hi Halifax275,
I was approved for VIP under the 4 week mark... I think I know why your not getting approved! The VIP decisions are made at the local VAC office level. My VIP application was drafted and submitted by my case worker and sent to their area VAC Doctor for consideration. Even on my decision letter, it states that 'the above decision about your VIP benefits were made based on: a Case Manager's assessment.

You need to contact your local VAC office so they can start your application.
Good luck, I hope this help you out!
Cheers,

I have it, but saw an old timer today who definitely needs it. A VaC 3rd party nurse saw him 3 days ago.
Don't imagine it should take too too long? Shuffling a few papers.
