Re: REASSESSMENT REQUEST OF CIA LEVEL
My apologies okrod,
APSC = Additional Pain and Suffering Compensation
DEC = Diminished Earnings Capacity
VA or VAC = Veterans Affairs Canada
PM = Private Message
Supplement = VAC benefit prior to April 2019 (no longer exists)
Reassessment = In my case reviewing my file to see if I am entitled to moving from the lowest APSC level to the next level. I went from Level 3 to Level 2
Definitions for the above acronyms can be found on VAC's site.
In my comments below it should read Level 2 was approved and not Level 3.
Please feel free to ask any question you like. This forum is very helpful in assisting members navigate VAC. When I started my VAC journey 5 years ago I found this forum greatly assisted me in researching and applying for VAC benefits. So don't be shy to ask any question.

Re: REASSESSMENT REQUEST OF CIA LEVEL
Just looking at my account and I noticed that my APSC reassessment request for Level 3 was approved. I submitted my APSC reassessment request the end of October 2020 and found out I was approved today. Very impressive on VAC's behalf. Take care everyone, stay safe and healthy.

Re: REASSESSMENT REQUEST OF CIA LEVEL
Good morning johnny211,
This makes sense. There was a flood of requests pre April 1st. Especially for the supplement. I was very fortunate and was DEC, supplement well before April 1st. Just a question of reassessing my APSC level now. Maybe VAC will impress and make a decision sooner than later. I will post once I have an answer (either way).

Re: REASSESSMENT REQUEST OF CIA LEVEL
Air log - I was told by VA, that the 77 wk wait was due to a flood of Vets like myself, who put in the Reassessment Application on, or just before 1 Apr 2019, when it changed over to APSC. A Vet friend of mine was 79 wks.
But it appears they have now got that bulk behind them, and future APSC reassessments will go faster. VVV

Re: REASSESSMENT REQUEST OF CIA LEVEL
cookie2007,
Yes, congratulations on being approved to level 2 and not waiting as long as johnny211. Still can't believe that Johnny211 waited 77 weeks. Hopefully my ASPC reassessment request will be no more than what you waited.
I have sent you a very detailed PM.
Thanks again.

Re: REASSESSMENT REQUEST OF CIA LEVEL
cookie2007,
Great to hear! Is it possible to know the basis of your argument that convinced VAC to approve 3 to 2? I am in the same boat and want to ensure that I have a good argument for success. Thanks.

Re: REASSESSMENT REQUEST OF CIA LEVEL
Morning everyone.... just wanted to update you all on the ASPC reassessment I requested in Feb 2020 for my husband & his friend who I also represent.
Both were successful going from 3 to a 2....with retro pay.
My friends completed Nov 5th 2020, and my husband just today and it's showing updated amounts on VAC now.
So at least we didn't have to wait the 77 weeks! I wish everyone good luck on theirs, and I hope it's the same turnaround or better for you all!

Unknown Soldier wrote:For those in the reassessment process, if the veteran is denied a tier increase. Is this where it ends or is the vet entitled to appeal, 1,2nd and/or use the Bureau of pension advocates if they feel there is an error in VAC s judgment?
Unknown Soldier: This is first-hand information.
Please be advised the first review of the grade level decision for your additional pain and suffering compensation would be before the Veterans Review and Appeal Board. If it does not succeed, you do have a right to a further appeal to Veterans Review and Appeal Board. You may also request a reassessment of your grade level from Veterans Affairs Canada.
