Nope, no income from the business and I am not working so SISIP does not care. Close it after class action done. people set up businesses all the time and show losses for first 3 years of business with CCRA blessing. I know you don't believe me but I have a sister thats a lawyer, her husband is a corporate accountant and i have 2 first cousins employed at CCRA. I have researched every aspect of this including how to recoup a good portion of the taxes paid. There are ways, you just have to research all avenues open to you specifically. Tax evasion is illegal but tax avoidance is ok.

One word , HST is unfair, it's one thing to pay income taxes but the HST is like a nail in the coffin. Yesterday I was happy with what I heard , the legion rumour, but today I feel like I got the shite kicked out of me by a thug called HST

Wills , I like your idea but something tells me if 7500 sisip vets call Cra about HST numbers , there would be 7500 sisip vets getting reassessment letters. I just wonder why this HST issue was not brought up earlier, I found out thru the rumours of the Hamilton legion and Teen confirmed it! ( Hamilton Legion 1, gag order 0) what else has been kept undercover? You would think a tax that will cost veterans thousands might have been discussed and passed on to the class?

I don't know about that. The HST wouldn't necessarily be part of the proposal, like the legal fees or taxes on the retro were, so there may be a little wiggle room for the lawyers to talk.

Maybe the Government could be persuaded to waive or cover the HST, even if they have refused to pay the actual legal fees.

As I said guys, go see a business / tax specialist and call CCRA. We have all entered into a legitimate business or businesses where we had to hire a law firm to represent us. Obtain an HST number in your own name or a company name and at the end of the quarter (say march or June) fill out the form over the phone and submit zeros for all blocks except HST paid. You will promptly, within 6 weeks, receive a cheque. When you register your HST CCRA will ask what the nature of your legitimate business is. You can call your business "Veteran's Voice" or something along that line if you wish and tell CCRA your business was set up to fight injustice and you hope to earn or show a profit as a result. Promptly claim all your expenses, legal, HST, portion of your home costs that account for your office. (IE One 12 x 12 room may equal 10% of your home). This sounds crazy but I have actually gone into CCRA office and presented this to an HST auditor.

That's it, final sale, no refunds, no exchanges , we like the sale so shut up take the 50 percent and be glad we even gave that! This is what is printed on the sales tax receipt we will get on the 9 of Jan

Haha, We will be squeezed , just look at Big Rex post from last night, he worked out the whole scernio with HST and it's not pretty , not pretty at all. Great foot is right , why should anyone have to pay HST, if you re not a resident, I don't think even the residents of NS should pay, this is one thing tht could have been negioated for sure, it's alt to take in being so close, in all intensive purposes the GOC will be getting half the money they pay out back, So to them this must have been the biggest Boxing Day sale ever, pay 100 percent, don't cover all legal, no damages, GOC gets 50 percent back , oh , and the provinces get HST on top

Logistic nightmare. During the time when we were supposed to be receiving these funds our marital status, dependants status, provincial residence status, income status, taxation status were not the same as we are presently. Furthermore, Hst was not established either. We are comparing grapefruits to oranges and it looks like we are going to get squeezed. sparrow
