Re: HELP - DISABILITY AWARD AMOUNT
It's is somewhat complicated. They stack them, but they don't stack them at the same time. They stack PA pensions together, they stack NVC awards together, but they don't stack PA and NVC awards together, except to limit payments to the maximum of 100%. Example, a vet gets a 90% PA pension. He then submits 2 claims under the NVC, the first is approved at 5%, and the second is assessed at 15%. So even though he is rated at 20% under the NVC, he will only be paid the 10% rate.
In my case, my first disability award was for 10%, and then I was given a 3% award for my back (15% at 1/5th), I was expecting a couple of thousand, but when the cheque arrived, it stated that my total disability rating under the NVC was 13%, but because they pay in 5% increments, they paid the amount bringing me to the 15% mark. So if both of your claims add up to 8%, then you should be paid the 10% rate.

Re: HELP - DISABILITY AWARD AMOUNT
cosmo from what I understand they will more than likely be payed separate and if they claim is below the 5% then im pretty sure they don't add the QOL amount.

Re: HELP - DISABILITY AWARD AMOUNT
Hi cosmo, your sit seems a bit similiar to what I went through. I'm pa, put in consequential claims and my pevious consequentials were approved. My last one was shot down though.
Put in a new disability application for my sit and it was approved very much and in addition to my old pa. Sort of like this... your pa'd for your neck but then your arm goes numb. Your arm going numb can be a seperate catagory under the tod, hence a new app for your arm. Perhaps you haven't gotten that far yet though, i don't know your situation.
My advise, get all the documtation you can get, dr's, reports, specialists, your service records and photocopy everything. You submit anything to vac? Get them to photocopy it for you including their datestamp. This will serve you well in the future. Don't know about your numbers and %'s always found vac's too confusing. Ask away, if I don't know the answers someone else here probably does.

HELP - DISABILITY AWARD AMOUNT
i guys;
I have a question, I am a pension act and I do have to summit 2 claims for consecutive affection of conditions cover by the pension act. If i look at the rules and regulation the new claims will be cover by the disability award.
how does it work. i look at the table of disabilities and my two claim should be: First: 4% + 1% quality of life = 5 and the second should be 2% + 1% quality of life= 3
do they had up 5 + 3 : 8% paid or they go by pay 5% and they pay 3% separetly. It makes a big difference.
thanks for your help.
