Disability Award Retro Letters

I've already started the appeal process with regards to my CIA upgrade denial. I've never appealed a VAC decision before. I hope it doesn't turn into a freakshow.

my thoughts on it are if they sent out letters saying you won't be able to get it then 50%-75% of those people would probably say fine and do nothing about it or not bother to appeal it and thats a standard insurance thing they hope you won't be up to fighting them. then the others that do appeal it or fight it half of them would get it and other half would still have to fight it but we got the training to fight it just do we still have the will or are we just to tired of fighting for what they said they do. for me i hope there is lots of will and fight for those that don't get it and they are willing to try and appeal it or apply for it

I'm not really surprised about people not getting their top up. After all, has VAC ever done anything flawlessly?

i had a friend that called vac regarding his letter about the cia and they had to call him back but did tell him even though they sent him a letter saying they were not going to up his cia they told him if his situation changed from when he was granted it then he could apply and or appeal it and see if he can go up so just because you got a letter saying no then don't be afraid to appeal it or apply for it

One thing is for sure, we're all getting different information on time lines.

I actually don't mind waiting for the retro, I just don't want to be forgotten.

I was already denied an upgrade to my CIA level this week, I'd prefer to avoid anymore bad news.

I'm going to wait until Monday to call again, if i still haven't heard anything.
the one yesterday said that they could take up to 2 weeks to send them all.

Okay, just got off the phone with VAC and they said my situation isn't the only one where vets haven't received word about the top up.

My file has now been red flagged and head office is supposed to handle the matter.

So just like the Army, it's a hurry up and wait situation.

I agree that most should have received something by now. The person I spoke with yesterday when getting my decision letter said that they aren't allowed to see the calculations for the retro top up, but she assured me it would be coming soon...I'll give it until Monday before calling.

I spoke with VAC today to enquire about where my letter is and they said there was nothing on my file yet. The front line worker said that doesn't seem right as almost all the letters have gone out. So now she's trying to find out why I haven't received any communication yet and is going to call me back and let me know what's up.

If any vet out there has the same sinking feeling I have that something isn't right, it might be a good idea to call VAC.

I haven't received my "Retro" letter yet, just a form to verify banking info and address. BUT I also got a call saying a claim I submitted for a new disability last August was completed and favorable...just can't understand why it was approved on March 29th so it has to be calculated for part of the top-up as well. I wasn't expecting to hear on this for months yet because when it went to step 3 it was at the end of December and all I kept reading was they were working on last April...go figure!

I know the feeling brother! The only thing I hate more than the anxiety is my hands haven't stopped shaking since 2006 sometimes it's a bugger to roll a spliff of my medical marijuana.

she told me, they are trying to get all payments out by the end of the month, so hopefully all letters will be sent out mid month.

Same thing here Iceman. When I spoke to VAC this morning they said there is approximately 90,000 veterans who are to receive compensation. They'll get to us. Try not to worry or get upset. I was a nervous wreck yesterday over this, but today I refuse to let it get to me and so far that's working.

well... another day without any letter
20% DA so expecting around 8500
I'm PA as well, deposit info current (even emailed to confirm) set for paperless notification....

hopefully soon..

I spoke with VAC this morning, and 19000 more letters are being sent out today.
