Just my opinion but a lot of the above went down the toilet with cutbacks. Is it acceptable? Of course not!
Where I live, CRA used to have around 40 cubicles with agents in them to talk to (5 years back)... no more.
All gone. Last time I was there to pay 4 maybe 5 people there. Wanna talk to an agent? Use their phone.

Streamlining, re-allocating fiscal priorities, responsible to the Canadian public, let alone us?
Effectiveness?...Horseshyte and that's just CRA !

Homeward bound today and my nice surprise, I am being audited for 6 previous years. My CRA page says reassessment in progress for the last six years including 2013, I can't believe it.

You forget one valuable point Trooper and that is we veterans through years of dedicated loyal service have set a bar so high that those that believe they are above us are well you know well below our standards, they do not think like we think and your right their bosses cannot fathom how we think so that is why I say ignorance is an excuse on civvi street not in our previous lives. I have learned one very positive thing through all of this and simply put if we stick to gather in here CSAT then we are ok, seems through all of the posting many and I mean many have come through this albeit tattered and some what arse sore we made it and thats better than lying in a panic state held up in some outward like those unfortunate civvies that have no standards therefore no one is accountable for mistakes.

Well it has been clear that they don't care, they are not on the receiving end.
If anything these large numbers of 1198's that were sent into them may have
actually caused some agents to become angry, as this would have caused
them more work, and probably more work without any type of benefits resulting from it,
besides being recognized for doing their job.

That put aside,

Again, if they can't handle it, find someone who can.

no heads will roll and no justice for any vet due to this as honestly NO ONE CARES about us vets as according to most we got our victory and we got loot so suck it up and chive on. Feel for all of us but the Joe in Public has other agenda's troops. Reality is we just soldier on, hooah .

The thing is they were given a heads up.
Back in 2013, and at the beginning of 2014 even before we have received our tax slips.
The CRA was well informed of the quantity of 1198's that were to be sent in,
they were also aware of the sisip suit, that would have clarified the sending in of our 1198's.
Furthermore, it is there own procedure that within the CRA act itself,
it is crystal clear that our lump sum payments qualified us to allow for this special calculation.
In other words, even if no attempts were made to give them a heads up,
our lump sum showing on our tax return would be a clear indication,
from there own policy that a 1198 has to be completed, and calculated.
This should have been ( AUTOMATIC )

This is how this whole ordeal played out,
first you have the agents who are committed to doing there job,
and they have calculated some 1198's right from the start, no problems, no stress.

Second, you have the ones for whatever reason bypassed completely our 1198,
I wont even bother speculating as to why this occurred as my language used would
only show disrespect to this site.

In closing,

I do hope that heads roll over this, as it caused undue stress to many.
If they cant, or wont do the job, find someone who will.

Why wasn't anyone at CRA contacted prior to the tax season to let them know that a large quantity of T1198 forms were going to be sent in?

Just got off the phone with CRA...original tax info including T1198 sent in 10 april....resent all documents a multitude of time to various mailing addresses finally getting the right department.....confirmed today that all documents received....ETA on reassessment, MID OCTOBER....to finally get to the end of this years taxes.

For the amount of coin Veterans paid to parties involved, we should have been treated a whole lot better...not putting individuals through all this BS and mental anguish...how hard would it have been to get CRA a heads-up and make sure that this years tax season was a little less stressfull??

But at least it's almost over!!!!

You can view the status of the T2201 submission by logging in to the CRA website clicking the "Benefits and Credits" tab at the top of the page, and then click the link to "Disability tax credit" from the "Credits" section

Side Note on DTC:
If the person with the impairment does not have a taxable income, he/she can transfer credits to a supporting relative such as a parent, grandparent, child, grandchild, aunt, uncle, niece nephew or spouse. It may also be transferred to a sibling but since this was only introduced in 2001 applicants may only retroactively transfer the amount to that date. The disability amount can be transferred in either its entirety or as the remainder of what the dependent was unable to claim himself or herself.
