I just wonder though, when we send Emails to the MVA email address if he actual gets to see them or if they
are read and action-ed by his staff, and he actually never really see the email we send in.

And are these staff members still the one's who worked under O'tool, cause some of the replies I got are or were
very basic letter forms, and we all know the signature of the bottom of the forms are or mostly are done with
those signature machines, so ya think your getting a response from per say MVA except it's one of the Office
Personal, getting the email, and actioning it, and using Mr. Signature Machine.

So how do we know He himself are getting our emails..

An afghan veteran who was injured while serving has already started to post on the new MVA's facebook page.
One veteran one standard.
I know this veteran personally and hope he continues to be a voice for veterans.
No letting our guard down.

I messaged the Honourable Kent Hehr via facebook as he has an account and requested  email / telephone contact information so that Veterans can correspond with him directly as the MVA.
If he replies I will post the details.

Update: I located his email address if anyone requires it:           kent@kenthehr.com

It's definitely a reassuring news article and at least we get a sense of who Kent Hehr is and how he views Veterans and our issues.

This article is definitely demonstrating Kent Hehr is moving in the right direction!

Kent Hehr still sounds like Kent Hehr.

And becoming veterans affairs minister sounds like a good fit — and welcome news for those who served.

Those who know Kent, and have seen him laying a wreath on Remembrance Day and buying a round for the house and going to the seniors’ dinners of Calgary’s No. 1 Legion, realize he’s got a thing for veterans.

He’s also got one certain quality.

Compassion from a one-time hockey-playing college guy shot in his early twenties and now more than two decades in a wheelchair.

Kent vows to start cleaning up the mess veterans have faced.

“I couldn’t be more tickled pink to go into a file that’s been overlooked and bungled and throw my weight behind it to fix it,” he says.

‘To ensure they not only get the respect they deserve but the services they deserve is highly important.”

How will he deal with high expectations?

“Deliver,” he says.

Kent says Wednesday’s huddle of Liberals was “exciting” with “Alberta front and centre.”

“We will continue to be there.”

Edmonton’s Amarjeet Sohi is the boss of building in the Trudeau inner circle and Kent vows to push for the folks back home.

“I encourage your readers to watch,” he says.

He talks about his Medicine Hat grandparents working for the war effort.

Kent recalls how the heart of the community was the Legion and the heart of the city was service to this country and defending its freedom and values.

He has funny stories.

“I remember my grandma sneaking me into the Legion the odd time when she’d have a pint and I’d come and watch her pull tickets.

“Those are good memories and the stories are not lost on me to this day.”

At eleven in the morning when your columnist drops in at the No.1 Legion. busy staff haven’t heard the news.

“Awesome,” says manager Susan MacAulay, when she hears where Kent is headed.

“Kent is for veterans, He always has been. He’s for veterans. He’s for seniors. And he believes what the Legion stands for.”

MacAulay doesn’t know where Kent’s feeling for veterans comes from but thinks his own life might help him understand the struggle of veterans.

“At times veterans don’t feel their voices are being heard. With Kent, I believe he will speak for the veterans and their voices will now get heard.”

“If you take him an issue he will deal with that issue, he won’t just yeah, yeah, yeah.”

“I firmly believe this has been the best news of the day and it came out at the right time, during the poppy campaign.”

Across the room, Len Bunzeluk, an old Winnipegger, helped put up signs for Kent in the federal election.

He’s happy as hell and remembers election night when the first votes had Kent losing.

Len also recalls what he told people.

“That’s from Elbow River, those rich people. You’ll see when all the votes come in.”

And we saw.

Phil MacAulay is No. 1 Legion’s president and Susan’s husband.

Right away he sends congrats.

The president says he couldn’t think of anyone better for the post. He’s hoping for the best but veterans have heard lots of talk and seen little walk.

“He can hold his own. He sort of reminds you of Ralph in a way. Not quite a Ralph but similar,” says Phil.

“But he’s not going to be able to wave a magic wand and all of a sudden all the bad is going to go away and all the good is going to come.”

Again this year, Kent’s got an invite for Remembrance Day.

The new minister says he’s going to do his level best to be there.

At the moment, it’s a “probably.”

Phil laughs and throws Kent a dig about the usual round for the house. “His pay grade has gone up so I think he can afford a little more.”

In Ottawa, Kent, who never thought he’d been where he is now, laughs as well.

“I thought that one might be coming. We’ll have to check it out with the missus.”
