Q6: What do I need to do to get my payment as soon as possible?

If you received a Disability Award and are receiving other monthly Veterans Affairs Canada program benefits, or if you received a Disability Award payment within the last two years, you will automatically get a letter confirming the amount of your additional lump sum payment by mid-April.
If you are a Canadian Armed Forces member/Veteran and received a Disability Award more than two years ago and are not currently receiving other monthly Veterans Affairs Canada program benefits, please update your address and banking information now by calling 1-866-522-2122 or through My VAC account so that you will receive your payment by mid-April.
If you do not update your information now, a letter will be mailed the first week of April asking you to complete and return a Verification of Address and Banking Information form. Within a few weeks of receiving the completed form, the Department can issue a payment.

You need to do a calculation for each year you received an award using the chart.

Here's an example using a certain year, let's say 2009, you take the percentage of that award, you then look at the chart for 2009 and take the award percentage you received for 2009, let's say 20%, to the 2009 chart number, you take that result and subtract the award amount you received in 2009. This is your retro amount for 2009.

As you calculate each year, you add all those results to get your total retro.

2008 45%- paid:$139,638 owed:$154,771 top up: $15,133
2014 25%- paid: $75,318 owed: $85,984 top up: $10,666

Total should be $25,799

Ok so here's what I've got. I think your numbers are off.

2011 5%: paid $14,265 owed: 16,254 top up: $1989
2013 10%: paid: $29,858 owed: $34,053 top up: $4195
2014 10%: paid: $30,127 owed: $34,393 top up: $4266
2016 64%:paid: 198,641 owed: $226,994 top up: $28,353

Should be a total top up 38,803.

I think the mistake with your original calculation is with the 2016 award. 64% of $310,378 is $198k not $168k.

$310,378 x 0.64= $198,641

Everyone will receive more money whatever it is ....Thank to the battles....we have won....tbe list of benefits is long and inclusive....life long pensions will return but taxable.....Cia is here 1st of april.....post 65 ...70% is pension top up is here if on elb.....we have so much to be thankful for.....My biggest wish is we keep members in the military until everything is in place ...this is a must! Good luck with your caluations we are winning !
