Increased Disability Award & Retro

It might always be there for you Bruce72... It just showed up for me. There was no payment info there before.

"This reflects your current benefit standing and does not include benefits previously paid in full, with the exception of disability awards. Current monthly benefit values should be part of payment scheduled for February 27, 2017".

This date always jumps ahead by a month after each of my monthly disability payments and then on or after the 15th of each month the date returns to the current month.

That message is always there, every month.

Where did this February 27th date materialize from?

On Feb 27 everyone who is looking at a retro payment better make sure the number they see on My VAC Account is the right number.

If it isn't appeal it because that number on Feb 27 is most likely going to be the number VAC will use in their calculations in March for the 1 April top up.

All we know to date is that those who received a disability award from 2006 onwards are entitled to a Supplementary Payment which will come into effect April 01, 2017.

I say they give the files to Lawnboy and he figures it all out.

11,000 for a 25% disability for everyone is what they said for their example if memory serves . can anyone please point out the complexities and variables involved in those calculations ????

if these guys cant do that math I seriously doubt they could have done the actual calculations from the actual legislation before they posted their statement on their sight in the first place .

but again I'm sure we all knew that example was freak tarted from the get go .

I'm sure they will figure it out about 6 months after the first payments go out lol.

The Question is why wont they just not give out the info. As some have said this was a last years announcement. So surely by now, they could tell all when these letters are being sent. But no, just jack all us physically and mentally injured Vets longer, Johnny, Out, VVV

For the past 4 days, I asked on my Vac Account, when letters/ amounts would be mailed out. First reply was the parrot MVA answer, second was the same. Then 3 Rd, which was not much better. But here it is: As was said above what's the secret, surely with 21/2 months till Apr, they have it sorted by now,,

I'm still trying to figure out what's behind VAC's removal of the 25% $11,000 DISABILITY AWARD RETRO example provided on their website.

I have been reading on various sites that individual Veterans have been reaching out to VAC for an explanation as to why this example was removed, with no answers to date.

It's rarely a good thing when questions are not answered.

Why all the secrecy?

It's no wonder we have Veterans with mental issues, we can't even get an answer to the questions we are asking.

Furthermore, I would like to know why it is that the increase and retro of the disability award needed to wait until 2017?

A spokesperson from DVA speaking on the subject said that each entitled Veteran would be contacted as per their calculation, has anyone been contacted yet?

I sent a message on My Vac Account, asking when letters would go out ref Retro. Will let you all know if I get any answer. Out...

Called both VAC and the Ombudsman.
VAC call center told me it's always been there and they don't know why.
I told her it just showed up... no help there.
Ombudsman office is checking into it. They seemed very interested and vowed to sort it out.
I also informed them that the example of $11,000 / 25% retro award page was removed. They said to give them a couple days and they'll figure out what's going on.

I just noticed the Feb 27 note in MyVac as well. I don't know what else it could be, except the retro. I'll call tomorrow and inquire. I'll try VAC intake as well as the ombudsman.
