The thing is that they are going back and looking at what you got in past COLA's "GROSS VERSUS NET" they re calculate the income using the gross calculation, then they subtract the net calculations from your previous calculations add on the interest on the difference, and that basically gives you your COLA amount.

That is why we are seeing some large COLA's an some not so large COLA's.

devans,

Are you saying that MC has sent you a letter notifying you that you would not receive any COLA ?

Yeah I really do not get it now. My settlement was over $200000 and I was released in 94. I collect Veterans pension and Cppd and Sisip but I just got my statement from the lawyer and I get zero for cola. New it was to good to be true. Just glad I am off this ride now

Good day everyone,

I am from Québec, was released medical Feb 2005.  Got my Cola today, 13,000.  About 5,000 withheld at source by Manulife for tax purposes.  About 1,800 for lawyers fees.

Good luck to everybody.

ok, you are right... they did take it off... almost $6000.00

whew, I feel a lot better now... so the actual gross before taxes was just shy of $20,000, minus the taxes, plus interest of 2800.00... equals the gross amount sent to MC.  very confusing, but I am very relieved.

I was only looking at the front page, didn't take the time to examine all the very small print on the calculation page.
thanks.

Hubby got his COLA today... got the adjustment letter a couple of weeks ago.
Gross 17,322.35..... deductions 2,123.19..... cheque 15,199.16

He was released in 2002, total disabled in 2004, Zero Sum... DND pension, CPPD, DVA.

totally shocked over the last couple of months at the amounts... really figured this would amount to a couple of thousand max.

Very disappointed that they didn't withhold any taxes on this amount... I hope people realize this and take it into account for their tax planning, combined with Manulife withholding less from our regular cheques people could run into trouble this time next year.

.....To add to Trooper's Comments ..........from the previous page .

Everyone getting a small adjustment of any kind , should have also received a " LETTER " stating that " YOUR FILE HAS BEEN PROCESSED " to show the ..... HISTORIC COLA CORRECTIONS ..... & that you should hear from McInnis / Cooper NEXT MONTH !

I did not get a Deposit , my letter simply stated they overpayed me $ 33.83 for the 3 months from "" JULY to SEPTEMBER "" then they PAID us from OCTOBER to DECEMBER , Now , we're waiting on the BALANCE !

..... NOW ! you're Guarenteed to receive your "" COLA ADJUSTMENT ""

SOOOOO....... hopefully by the end of the Week , we will all " 3600 " see the FINAL PIECE of the PUZZLE , & get some Fookin Sleep !

I received a "correction" from sisip just prior to getting my cola. About a week and a half prior.
