Bigrex I don't think TOS will matter because of reservists.

Re: DEC in the New System 1% Increase
I don't know. It doesn't specifically say 20 years, just "prescribed number of years", so they may only pay the 1%, until the end of the Veterans' contract, they were on, at the time of release. So if you were severely injured right out of Basic, they may only pay the 1% until the initial contract ends. They changed the TOS, so some trades, can have initial contracts of up to 9 years, before needing to sign an IPS.

Re: DEC in the New System 1% Increase
but the fact that the 20 year clause is in there, it’s assuming then that a soldier would get hurt right out of basic training and end up with DEC, how else would then end up with 20 future years at 1% a year, to equal a 20 year career in the service.?that can’t be right.bigrex wrote:It doesn't continue for 20 years. It is increased by 1%, until you reach, what would have been your 20th year of service. So if you released after 15 years, you would get the increase for 5 years.
from the legislation
"Career progression factor(3) If regulations made under paragraph (2)(a) provide for the periodic adjustment of a veteran’s monthly military salary in accordance with a career progression factor, that periodic adjustment may only be applied if the Minister determines under subsection 18(5) that the veteran has a diminished earning capacity, and it shall not be applied after the earlier of(a) the last day of the prescribed number of years of service of the veteran in the Canadian Forces, and(b) the day before the day on which the veteran attains the age of 60 years."Unfortunately, it is unclear as to who will be eligible for this increase. It may only be applied to new Veterans, on a going forward basis only. We will have to wait and see, if they start telling people what the F is going on, before money starts being deposited at the end of April.

DEC in the New System 1% Increase
Hello Everyone,
I was readying this on line, just need some other opinion from others
so were it says "Your salary calculation starting from date of release will be increased by 1 percent every year. This increase will continue for 20 consecutive years, or until you turn 60 – whichever comes first. "
Would this mean if i release in 2005 , it would go up 15% by chance
Life time benefit
If you are unable to find suitable gainful employment due to a physical or mental condition related to your service and are experiencing a diminished earning capacity, the benefit will be paid for life. Your salary calculation starting from date of release will be increased by 1 percent every year. This increase will continue for 20 consecutive years, or until you turn 60 – whichever comes first.
After you reach age 65, your benefit will be reduced and you will receive 70 percent of your adjusted pre-release salary (minus offsets from other income sources, such as benefits payable under the Canadian Forces Superannuation Act, commonly known as the CAF military pension.).
