Re: Here we are, Halifax, Feb 14th, Convention Center
Our law firm still at the stand!
0.24 percent of the Class expressed concerns about the fees, 18 people.
40 peopole wrote to say they were happy with the fee proposal!
Going back to 1976 brought back 176 new Class members!
One aspect of this case will continue and will be heard by the Court soon is the CPI, how to caculate the provisions, GOC and McInnes Cooper are at grounds on this wich of we won can make a added amount to come later! This will not stop the checks comming in!
Being here helpes peopole understand all aspects and seing the questions that the Judge askes!
McInnes Coopers lawyers Driscoll, Branch and Wallace did a good job explaining in detail from day 1 to today!
More to come, I am just writing this, no time to go back and read what is backward!
Next will be GOC for about 1 hour and then us. 12h50, so their will be a lunch brake.
Chears!
Pat.

If the judge agrees that fees are grossly excesive, will that send us back to the table or can the judge reduce the fees to end this.

This is on the CTV new website, published at 1052 EST, short and sweet...

HALIFAX -- A lawyer for veterans who reached a settlement with Ottawa over military pension clawbacks says most of the plaintiffs support the $887.8 million deal.
Dan Wallace, who spoke before a settlement approval hearing that began today in Halifax, says his law firm received 270 emails from veterans, 233 of which back the arrangement.
Wallace says 78 veterans specifically supported the $66.6 million in legal fees that his firm would earn from the settlement if the court approves it.
Defence Minister Peter MacKay has called those fees "grossly excessive," and the Crown is expected to oppose them during the two-day settlement approval hearing.
The settlement was announced last month after veteran Dennis Manuge launched a class-action lawsuit against the federal government in March 2007.
The lawsuit was on behalf of himself and other disabled veterans whose long-term disability benefits were reduced by the amount of the monthly Veterans Affairs disability pensions they received.
