Re: Career Impact Allowance (CIA)
I'm not sure about that... I tried o appeal my PIA date through a secure message and got a reply that it needed to be done in writing.

Re: Career Impact Allowance (CIA)
For those veterans that are unaware you can appeal any VAC decision by secure message through my VAC Account.
I have initiated an appeal of my CIA level. Hopefully, it goes well. I've never appealed a decision before, because I've never been denied any of my claims in the past and always felt VAC's decisions with regards to my situation were appropriate. I suppose in that sense I'm fortunate.

These so called improvements are only window dressing for Joe Public.
There was no mention of my career being cut short in the letter, so as far as I'm concerned it wasn't factored in.
I'm on the phone with VAC now raising hell.

Wow, bruce72. That is a nasty blow. I guess I will be waiting for similar 'denied' comms.
Looks like they VAC were busy typing those things before April 1st.
And, according to their site with that example they printed, it was going to be easier to get higher level. What a BS .. but Herr will have great talking points of 'improvements' they made. No doubt, there will be also 360000$ mentioned also. It will sound like everybody got that $.

Re: Career Impact Allowance (CIA)
Received a electronic letter from VAC today stating my CIA 3 will remain as it is with no increase.
How nice to receive bad news before I receive good news about my retro top up.
I guess it doesn't matter my career was cut short by 14 years.

Re: Career Impact Allowance (CIA)
Hi all this should clear the assessment ?, for those who are already rcv the CIA. I asked and received this on my VAC account-
The new assessments for the CIA program will begin in April 2017.
The results of your new assessment will be communicated via a
formal decision letter and will be available on My VAC Account.
It is anticipated that the majority of the assessments for Veterans
already in receipt of CIA as of April 1, 2015, will be completed
by April 30, 2017.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact
us again via My VAC Account, or our toll-free number 1-866-522-2122.
Sincerely,
Rikki Fenn

Re: Career Impact Allowance (CIA)
Artie Simm, I'd have to check my papers, but I'm sure it was 4-6 weeks.

Re: Career Impact Allowance (CIA)
So for those that received a positive application, is 12 weeks about right for a decision.

GPO75,
Those receiving the EIA under the PA, are not entitled to the CIA.
So the answer is yes, it still remains the case.
Brutal. Sounds like a breach of CHRA to not allow someone to benefits they are otherwise entitled to.

Re: Career Impact Allowance (CIA)
I'm CIA 3 currently. Will VAC take into account the 14 years (out of a potential 20) lost service and loss of contract? Will my 60% medical impairment rating factor in?
These are the questions that keep me up at night along with nightmares.
