vaincre,
I'm not sure I understand your question, but if your saying that you lost 5% of your 20% in 2010, then your amount should be reduced to about $41,250.
Calculating your retro from 2010 at $41,250 is as follows:
15% of 319649 = $47,947 - $41,250 = $6,697 retro.

"please update your address and banking information now by calling 1-866-522-2122 or through My VAC account so that you will receive your payment by mid-April."
Sorry, I missed the word "now" when I read that sentence before, so it sounded like they were asking you to ensure your information was correct with VAC by Mid April, so that they can send the money out whenever it was ready to be paid.

If you have a vac account go on it they are asking for you to confirm all personal info is correct and asking you to confirm everything and send a secure message saying everything is correct

Q6: What do I need to do to get my payment as soon as possible?
If you received a Disability Award and are receiving other monthly Veterans Affairs Canada program benefits, or if you received a Disability Award payment within the last two years, you will automatically get a letter confirming the amount of your additional lump sum payment by mid-April.
If you are a Canadian Armed Forces member/Veteran and received a Disability Award more than two years ago and are not currently receiving other monthly Veterans Affairs Canada program benefits, please update your address and banking information now by calling 1-866-522-2122 or through My VAC account so that you will receive your payment by mid-April.
If you do not update your information now, a letter will be mailed the first week of April asking you to complete and return a Verification of Address and Banking Information form. Within a few weeks of receiving the completed form, the Department can issue a payment.
It also says to update our info, so we can receive the payment by mid April and if we don't update our info now, they will send us a letter the first week of April, and they will issue a payment within a few weeks of receiving the form.

Re: Increased Disability Award & Retro
Vet, the full sentence states that you will getting a LETTER about the top up by mid Apr, not the payment itself. As far as the actual payment, only God and senior VAC officials know for sure, because it doesn't have to be paid out at the same time as the monthly benefits. For all we know, it could be processed and in the bank, the same day that the letters are sent out. In the past, I had actually received a cheque for a disability award, before I got the letter stating that my claim had been approved, and that the cheque would be mailed out shortly.

I agree with you Trooper. Every little bit helps just unfortunate that they are patting themselves on the back and they look great in the eyes of the public but us veterans are being misled . Hope for the best I guess!!

Re: Increased Disability Award & Retro
Gardener101,
I totally agree, it's not a true top up, it's more of a supplementary payment.
The further one goes back, the less retro. This is not a true top up.
That said, it puts tax free funds into the hands of Veterans, so in that respect, we should be grateful to some extent, but absolutely no smoking gun.
One thing I will say is that the movement from the Liberals thus far on our file seem to be a bit better than the previous government, but still inline with the previous governments policy of the continuing of gap fixing with no real solid major improvements.

Re: Increased Disability Award & Retro
This "retro" or "top up" is certainly not what we expected it was explained/discussed at the MVA Stakeholders meeting in Oct 16. Go to the Veteran Affairs Canada Facebook page and watch the video they posted. (Near end of the video, someone asked the questioned about the calculation) Feel like we have been fooled again. Interesting to see how they will sell a lifetime pension. 😞
