I have received my 30% of the 2016 maximum award.
Yes. I see in your figures an annual increase of 2% going forward.
If it is, it might be a way to pension?
In my case.
360000 x 2% = 7200 x 30% = $2160

Can anyone elaborate on the 2% maximum disability award (DA) figures going forward. Does it mean those of us who have received DA get an adjustment every year going forward?

I have another thing I'd like to mention. They upped the lump sum...think about this, why would they implement the lump sum increase if they're returning to lifelong pension? Why would they do the increase when they're going to bring the big item back? I'm telling you all this loud and clear, they're not bringing it back for the vets under the NBC from 2006-2017 (implementation). They're going to change it for vets going forward. But hey, who am I right !

I think the link your looking for where Kent states the true top up to $360,000 is from his live facebook event following the last summit.
This particular video can be viewed here on CSAT, it is posted under the "Legislation & Stakeholder / Committee Meetings" under the topic "Oct 06, 2016 - Live on Facebook, MVA takes Questions" posted by myself.

Yes it was supposed to be $80,000 give or take a thousand. What they're doing isn't right. But we do not have the power to change it. Unfortunately

Supremedebater wrote:i use old numbers to figure out what someone got at say in 2007 I take that number then subtract that already paid number from the new number

Here's mine
2006 5% Award of $12500
2007 15% award of $38359
2008 15% award of $39126
2009 15% award of $40104
2013 50% award of $149.293

Now based on what I figured out using the old payouts throughout these years and taking off wand adjusting for new I figured it to be

2006 $2383 retro
2007 $7229 retro
2008 $7420 retro
2009 $7652 retro
2013 $20,972 retro

Add them up it's around $45,656

I got the same Supreme, $45,656

This is a good example of a 100% Veteran calculating the retro for different years received.

Supreme,

Regarding your post today stating how the retro is " bullsh*t" in terms of reducing the amounts as per CPI each year back to 2006. I have calculated your numbers above without reducing the amounts as per CPI. Calculated to the true value of $360,000 to obtain a true top up.

2006 @ 5% $18,000 - $12,500 = $5,500

2007 @ 15% $54,000 - $38,000 = $15,641

2008 @ 15% $54,000 - $39,126 = $14,874

2009 @ 15% $54,000 - $40,104 = $13,896

2013 @ 50% $180,000 - $149,293 = $30,707

$5,500 + $15,641 + $14,874 +$13,896 + $30,707 = $80,618 retro.

VAC's numbers as per the supplementary payment, $45,656 retro.

True top up as per to the true $360,000, $80,618 retro.

$80,618 - $45,656 = $34,962

The difference comes to the amount of, $34,962 of retro.

OR

$34,962 of loss retro, due to the way the calculations have been implemented by VAC.

Increased Disability Award & Retro - Page 8 Empty Re: Increased Disability Award & Retro

Post by BinRat Fri 24 Mar 2017, 11:45

Hey Suprem..

Umm don't take this wrong way, but with the Adjustments they did, the 100% vet in 2012, looses actually about 16K but none the less, he'll still receive less..

So after reading this, and seeing in numbers how much of a can or worms they did open, and for sh!ts and giggles, I did this below, going from 2006
to 2027, so 10 year's from now, on what people have been getting at a 20% award value...

And I apologize for this Oh My God my Brains gonna explode looking at this now

Year MAX reduced CPI % Award

2006 - $297674.20 @20% = $59534.84
2007 - $303925.36 @20% = $60785.07
2008 - $310307.79 @20% = $62061.55
2009 - $318375.79 @20% = $63675.15
2010 - $319649.29 @20% = $63929.85
2011 - $325083.33 @20% = $65016.66
2012 - $334510.75 @20% = $66902.15
2013 - $340531.94 @20% = $68106.38
2014 - $343937.26 @20% = $68787.45
2015 - $350128.13 @20% = $70025.62
2016 - $354679.80 @20% = $70935.96

Year Max @2% annual % Award <--- Did 2% as the 2% cap now removed so just averaged

2017 - $360000.00 @20% = $72000.00
2018 - $367200.00 @20% = $73440.00
2019 - $374544.00 @20% = $74908.80
2020 - $382034.88 @20% = $76406.97
2021 - $389675.57 @20% = $77935.11
2022 - $397469.08 @20% = $79493.81
2023 - $405418.47 @20% = $81083.69
2024 - $413526.84 @20% = $82705.36
2025 - $421797.37 @20% = $84359.47
2026 - $430233.32 @20% = $86046.66
2027 - $438837.99 @20% = $87767.59

So what this shows is like VAC is gonna crash, if per say they have a 25 Billion budget, in 10 year's from now, they are gonna need a crap more money to be paying out at these rates and others and the increases.
As we all know, a 2% increase in our PA account of 25% Currently $683 a month 2% is what $13.66 bucks a month more.
But when you do 2% of say $430,233.22 you get like a difference of $8776.75 each year added and more each additional year.

So ya these CEO dogs go I only got a 2% increase, ya base of $100K is $2000 bucks a year
my 2% of my little $12K a year is $240 Bucks (figures are just random)

So ya, Do I put in a application now figuring I'd get a 20% as per the award table, or should I wait 5 year's if I don't need the money type thing, and they Apply then, since there is no limit of submitting an application. Now $72K or 5 years 2022 and get $79K a $7K difference. Just by waiting 5 years

Are we again, gonna have to get another top up in 5 year's, to keep things fair.
The Can or worms has open and only gloom looks down the road ahead, the bleed will continue, And VAC's Budget will probably need major Cash injections. At the future rates...

I call bullsh*t. Tell me this. If a vet got 100% disabled and received say $280,000 total for the 100% back in say 2012, why is it a vet in 2017 gets disabled and is 100% and he/she receives $360,000. Lawyers Will jump on this. Why should someone 4 years later get $80,000 more then the vet in 2012. There's a charter challenge here folks and the charter is Canada's strongest legislation. Seriously are they stupid?
