Re: Tinnitus
Exactly what bigrex said. If your reassessment is because your getting a masking device, then that would bump it up to 10%. Shouldn’t take long because it’s automatically 10% award.
I put my application in late December. Seen audiologist in late January or early February and Got prescribed my masking device. Now the person who was taking care of my reassessment paper work was super slow, I had to call her 3 times to get her to send in my final paperwork, once she finally sent it in I had my papers letter come in no time. If you haven’t heard anything since February, and youve been prescribed a masking device, I’d call and see if she sent in the paper work.

Re: Tinnitus
it would probably depend on why the reassessment was conducted. If it was merely because you were prescribed a masking device, it would be very cut and dry. They wouldn't need to look at medical records, or audiology reports. Just having the prescription for a masking device in the hands of an adjudicator, warrants an increase to any tinnitus claim that wasn't already assessed at 10% or more.

Copper, I would call and ask what’s going on. When my reassessment went to step 3, was only couple weeks then to step 4. My whole tinnitus reassessment from step 1 right til I got my award was only 3.5 months ish.
Gunner
Gunner when did you have your reassessment done? I know they're backlogged! Hoping its not too much longer.

Re: Tinnitus
Yesterday after I got off the phone with rehearing place they must of faded my audiogram right away. My status changed to step 2 on my application this morning. Hopefully the process speeds up from here.

Re: Tinnitus
So I called them today and they said they don’t have my audiogram. So I had to call the hearing place and see if they could send it but they said the audiologist who did it is out of the office all week. I was told that information would all be sent in back in February, the same time I was doing my tinnitus reassessment. Hopefully this process don’t take to long. I’m not sure if I will get a disability award either way, but I would like to get this taken care of as I do have some hearing loss. Thanks

Re: Tinnitus
Gunner, something don’t sound right. You should have at least moved to Step 2 when VAC sent you the medical questionnaire to be completed and then moved to Step 3 when the medical questionnaire was received back to VAC. That’s how my applications proceeded.
