Re: Tinnitus
Yes I agree. I put a hearing loss one in at the same time and it’s still at step 1, since December.

For veterans affairs to do it that quickly it is amazing even for a reassessment.

Re: Tinnitus
Bosn181 and Art8 - I read your both stories here interesting!
Bosn181 -any news on your hearing loss claim?
Art8- from the time you made you initial Vac account disability claim for severe tinnitus until you had your LSA in hand was it only 9 weeks?

Re: Tinnitus
Mine didn't get automatically done, I snet a message thru my vac asking about it, and they sent me re-assessment forms, and needed the audiologist to list which devices I had

Re: Tinnitus
You would likely need to request a reassessment, which takes roughly the same amount of time as a new application.

Re: Tinnitus
Hi, does anyone know once you have the masking device for tinnitus if VAC bump you up another 5% automatically or I have to call them or else. I am assuming they should know about this because blue cross or VAC approved it (they paid directly the hearing specialist). I was approved 6 % (5%+1%), then couple weeks ago got a masking device but they have not upgraded my disability to 11% yet

TInnitus
My Tinnitus reassessment was submitted with my lumbar back one by medical staff. Does anyone know if they show the same date if I need to wait for both to be decided. Was hoping they would settle the tinnitus one as it made a 7% increase for me. The service date shows Feb 14th but am not expecting answers until the summer hopefully. Has anyone had any experience with two reassessments going in together and wait times? Thanks for any info.

Re: Tinnitus
even with the top up i did not get a true top up to 360k. my awards dated back to 2008 and they took the cost of living off me every year going back. i thought like a few others it would have been 360k minus what they already paid me but that did not happen.

Re: Tinnitus
Shouldn’t it all even out tho since we all got the top up of the 360,000? I thought that was the point of the top up?

Re: Tinnitus
it will all depend on when you got your award. i know a few others sitting at 100% but never paid the 360k it would be to hard on my brain right now to explain how they did the paper work. they took the cost of living off going back each year to see what the 360k was worth the year i got the award so sitting at 100% now when you got your award back in 2008 was a bout 38k difference i think

Re: Tinnitus
After reviewing everything, I think I may know what was done. My letter said I was previously 34% disability, ( I was also diagnosed with 30% PTSD, and 4% Timothy’s) but with the 7% increase on tinnitus it bumped me up to 41% which gave me a 5% increase.
I’m still confused as to why if I’m a total of 41% disability, and should be payout of 40%, that means 40% of $360,000 is 144,000. But after I receive this 5% I will only have a total of 136,000 ish.
Am I wrong in thinking this?

Re: Tinnitus
From what I can see the only way to correct the 4% to a 5% correction would be to Appeal the award percentage
Now from the Chart bigrex post a page or 2 ago, from 3% to 5% and any chance on winning the Appeal would all
depend on what your reports stated.
Did they state then Your tinnitus was intermittent, or was it continuous
if you assessments, reports state it was intermittent from the Doctor, or Audiologist then ya you wont win the appeal
but if your Assessments actually stated back then your tinnitus was constant or continuous then you could do an appeal on the initial 4%.
Showing that at that time your Doc's showed your tinnitus was continuous and not intermittent and in fact you should of been awarded a 5% award and not 3% with 1% QOL

Re: Tinnitus
Yeah that’s what I’m confused about. I was diagnosed at 4% before, and they didn’t award me for 5%. They awarded me 4%. Which was $3096 in 3010. Now I got reassessed and they bumped me up to 11%, which is 7% more. So they payed me out at 5%. The biggest issue there is, when I got payed at 4% in 2010, it was $3096, and 5% then was like $13,000. So I thought that if I’m disabikity now at 11%, which is at %10, then I should of gotten a total of 36,000 now shouldn’t I? I thought I would get the 36000- 3096= 33000. If I had gotten assessed at 10% right away it would of been 36000, but because it was at 4 back in 2010, and because of the award table at the time, now I’m not Gettin the same amount as what someone else would get. Does that make sense? Thanks for all your help
