Manulife T4A For 2015

Here's the thing with these tax slips from Manulife...if the COLA payout for 2015 mirrors the 2013 Lump-Sump payout in terms of what to expect for slips...you should receive from Manulife the following ;

One T4A from your regular LTD payments.

One T4A from your COLA payout.

One T5 from your interest.

One T1198 for your Statement of Qualifying Retroactive (COLA) if applicable.

You should have already gotten a receipt from MC for the legal fees... when your COLA was delivered...this of course to claim on your taxes.

I will check my document , my COLA was a small amount but I should still get interest.

Well here is the COLA Court Order page 9 Reference to interest paid.

a. 6% from Feb 92 to Dec 95

b. 5% from Jan 96 to 2008

c. 3% from Jan 2009 to the date the amount is paid to MC

Are you saying there is interest on the COLA because i never received any?

Well Navrat I spoke to two different individuals from SISIP in Halifax ...one said for sure you will receive two T4's one for the regular LTD an one for the COLA , one T5 for the interest.

The other person was unsure an said only your individual CM would know.

I spoke with two different people from head house Manulife ..Ontario .. both were unsure an one said you need to get that info from Halifax an the other said from your CM.

So I would say your correct when you say you have one T4 an one T5 still to come...but until someone actually post here receiving all three ..only then will we know for sure.

So Trooper, I got the T4A so I should get two more , one for cola and one for interest!? I called but the lady said they are being sent out daily and everyone should receive by 29 of Feb . Random no order to them. She also said that on the 27 of February there should be an electronics copy of your t4a on the My account CRA for viewing as manulife sends them to the CRA on the 25 of February electronically!

From Manulife ....the COLA T4 will come separate from from your T4A regular  Monthly payments.

Also a T5 will be issued from Manulife for the interest portion.

Update from my above statement ...there seems to be some conflicting reports about the T4's ...some are saying it comes separate an some are saying there together...so I guess we will just have to wait an see.

Apparently only your CM knows the real answer to this...go figure.

I used the document that I received from MC in 2015 for the COLA amount to claim on my income tax return because it tells you the legal fee's that were deducted and are claimable on line 232.

A T5 is only for interest.

It will be a T4 for the COLA amount...but what's surprising is that they didn't include your COLA with your normal yearly LTD amount.

Only Manulife would be able to answer why they did not include both the yearly amount an the COLA amount together.
