Increased Disability Award & Retro

No matter what the amount individually works out to be....it would appear to be a smoke show and only for political gain, stall the lawsuit and allow them to say oh we tried, in the publics eye it makes them out to be saints. Nothing new there. The part they have left off is that they are deducting a percentage but not showing any interest if it was truly supposed to be back dated to 2006....Any additional is good of course but not what was reflected when originally stated and also deflecting from election promises

To determine your retro amount, go to  cosmo12's post link: http://www.veterans.gc.ca/eng/help/faq/disability-award-increase and go to Q10: "Q10: How is this one-time lump sum additional payment calculated?"

Look at the chart and choose your award year, or years. Take your percentage amount received and use it with the New Maximum Disability Award
amount adjusted downward and

Subtract that amount from what you have already received for your award and that will show you your retro.

This is exactly what we here on the forum have been suggesting all along.

NOTE: I would suggest that all Veterans who have received an award from 2006 onwards to contact VAC to ensure that your address and banking info is up to date by calling 1-866-522-2122 or through My VAC account.

The calculations are known and its easy to figure out. All the information you need is in this thread. In Bill C-12 you will find the calculation VAC will use.

for sure gunner turnedtrucker i am hoping same as most.  i am now at 90% most of it paid back in early 2008 i have gotten 254k  year to date.  90% at the new rate 360k is 324k from what i been told by vac on phone was around 70k plus interest that i am not sure how much that will be but i hoping from what they said will all work out i waited this long for someone to improve the system a few more weeks not going to hurt for me at this point and as for the video i posted a few pages back the minister did say that before there term is up they will put the life long pension back for us i am sure there are still details to work out but lets see if they keep to there word on this one and then if they do i can hold out hope they will keep it for the life long pension

1, 2017, and no calculations for individual Veterans have yet

that seems to be what everyone is hoping for. but like you said, the don't quote me effect will play greatly into the final number

I'm not sure we do have the calculation. I spoke to VAC two days ago and the young man gave me the example that if you were 100% ..Received let's say 280..that it would be a straight top up to the 360..Or so he understood from why they have been told.
Now in that case it would be 80,000 before any corrections.
Of course the "don't quote" me was given.  But if what they have heard differs from our estimates..do we really know..the calculations.

Guess in 3-4 weeks we will truly find out. Maybe!!

Incognito the VAC account says that for everyone with an award. It just changes dates for each month.

As for the letters the e-mail does say they would be recieved by mid April and I'm guessing that's letter mail not My VAC Account. You may not here anything till April 3rd as the 1st is a Saturday.

Now for this announcement people are mad there is nothing except there was nothing noted about an actual announcement today at least nothing confirmed. At the end of the day we pretty much have the calculation and a pretty good idea of when to expect payment it's just not set in stone and I agree it should be. The fact we heard nothing shouldn't come as a surprise.

from everything i have seen over the last few months and everything i have heard over last few months from vac and the online meetings from the minister himself, i was expecting it to go live as of 1 April and the payment to be at end of April i know this info has been posted a few times on this forum and would be no surprise to some.  I can fully understand how frustrating it can be not to get a letter before hand to give exact numbers but if its in my account at end of April i will be pleased. sorry that if i posted it and a few may have missed it but i have a little faith left in me that we see it by end of April and vac site going down for maintenance may put the new numbers up but i don't see them putting the new numbers in place until it goes into effect on 1 April so lets see what happens we only got 2 weeks to see how it all turns out
